Jhpiego President Congratulates Kongwa District

The Jhpiego President Dr. Leslie D. Mancuso has congratulated Kongwa District for being at the forefront of the fight against Covid 19. She said, Kongwa District has demonstrated capacity to improve access of COVID 19 vaccines significantly.

 Dr. Mancuso acknowledged Kongwa Team on January 11, 2023 when she visited Kongwa District following success and achievements observed.

 She added that if leaders use the same efforts in other interventions then the District can make significant progress in other areas as well. 

On his part the District Commissioner Hon. Remidius Mwema Emmanuel, acknowledged Jhpiego support in Kongwa DC on Covid 19 vaccination roll out and recognized Jhpiego leadership in supporting the Government initiatives.

He also requested Jhpiego to continue to collaborate with Kongwa District Council. He requested for funding opportunities to address competing health problems including tailored solution focused programs to address existing challenges especially in health sector. 

Dr. Mancuso also visited Ugogoni Health Center, where she spoke to and congratulated the citizens while explaining the reasons of visiting Kongwa, which is "the great community leaders efforts" shown by the team and also the positive response paid by all key stakeholders on Covid 19 vaccination.

 Dr. Mancuso was accompanied by her Vice President Hon. Debora Bossemeyer the Global Program Director and various leaders of Jhpiego Organization in Tanzania together with delegations from the Ministry of Health and PORALG In Tanzania. Jhpiego Country Director Alice Christensen, said that the President just has come to see the good work done by our partnership with Kongwa District and acknowledged great efforts done by the team following roll out and implementation of COVID 19 vaccination services.

More over, the USAID funded MCGL Program Deputy Director in Tanzania Dr. MaryRose Maryrose Giattas has thanked the leaders and the public at large for the great reception of Jhpiego President Dr. Mancuso who has come to express their gratitude following the contribution of Kongwa Community to the struggle against the Covid 19. 

On her visit Dr. Mancuso planted a tree at the District commissioner's office yards.
